Why doesn't the Bishop and/or District Superintendent come more often to our church?

The Bishop visited every charge in the West District upon her assignment to the Texas Conference.  The DS has visited every church in the district.  The West District consists of 88 churches.  Visiting at least one each Sunday would take over a year and a half to complete.  If you would like to invite the Bishop or DS to your church for a major event, contact the District Office at (979) 696-8962.

Who is in charge of the DNA Transformation program?

This program is administered by the Conference Office of Congregational Excellence.  It is designed to help revitalize congregations throughout the Annual Conference.  It requires a 3 year commitment by local congregations and involves each church assessing its current reality and developing strategic plans for systemic change.  If you have additional questions contact the Office of Congregational Excellence at (713) 521-9383 or the District Team Leader for Congregational Excellence in the District Office.

What is a Hub Connection and why is it important for my church to get connected to it ?

A Hub Connection is a group of 7-9 United Methodist churches in close proximity of one another for mutual support and accountability for the mission of the church, i.e. the making of disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.  Each hub is facilitated by a hub pastor and lay leader in the Hub leader church.  Our vision for the West District is that every church will become a growing and vibrant congregation, living out the Great Commission of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.  It is important that we mutually support and hold one another accountable to our stated purpose for being.

When is the next district wide meeting related to this year's annual conference ?

The next district wide meeting related to annual conference will be held on Wednesday, May 7, 2008 @ A&M UMC  in College Station.  All clergy and laity of the churches in the district are invited.  We especially invite the pastor and lay delegates to this year's annual conference.  This will be a pre-conference gathering to orient clergy and laity to the changes at this year's conference as well as to go over the proposed resolutions requiring action by the annual conference. It will also be a time to get connected and ask questions concerning the election process as well as meet other leaders in the district churches.
